EL PIRA
Acuña, Coahuila
30,300 +/- Acres | $4,700,000
American owned El Pira is a massive ranch that was built the right way from the start. Nestled about 15 miles west of Lake Amistad, the scenic views and serenity are unmatched. El Pira is home to both whitetail and mule deer, and has had minimal hunting pressure since 2008. Something that really caught our attention was the impressive water distribution for a ranch this size. Water is fed from water wells into a couple of "pilas" which then distribute water via gravity with poly pipe to 50+ water troughs. Please take a look at the map to see the incredible water distribution this ranch has!
LOCATION
El Pira is located just 40 miles west of the city of Acuña, Coahuila, roughly a 2 hour drive from the border. The property is bordered by other big ranches.
PROPERTY
El Pira's 30,300 acres are truly a hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. The scenic views are out of a movie. You can feel the indian in you wanting to stay there and get lost forever. Like mentioned above, it has an absolutely incredible water distribution system. Over 50+ water troughs give life to abundant wildlife, that include native whitetail and mule deer. There are some areas of the ranch where muleys are more prevalent, and in most areas whitetail are abundant. Hunting has been minimal since 2008, with approximately 5 animals taken per year. Roads are very well maintained and have been designed to be able to access the whole property with ease. El Pira's headquarters has power. There's a hunter's house, owner's house, a couple of cowboy houses, barn, warehouse, cattle pens, etc... A very complete ranch in terms of infrastructure. There's plenty of machinery as well. El Pira runs 600 momma cows and around 50 bulls, which can be negotiated if the new owner would want to keep them.
HUNTING
There have been some very good deer taken on this ranch, one of which broke the 200" mark a couple of years back. And these are 100% native deer that have never even been fed protein. There are also some mule deer in the mix, which are more plentiful in certain areas of the ranch. We were able to photograph a beautiful one with the drone while it was drinking water from a draw. There's a good number of stands and corn feeders as well.
WATER
El Pira has 4 strong water wells that give life to its 30,300 acres. Water is fed from water wells into a couple of big "pilas" which then distribute water via gravity with poly pipe to 50+ water troughs. Please take a look at the map to see how it covers pretty much all of the ranch. There are also several tanks that hold good rain water.
